Local Area

You will find the convenience of many attractions, restaurants and shopping close by, so take your time whether you are traveling on business or pleasure to enjoy the Buffalo area. Fishing, picnicking, horseback riding, boating, water skiing, swimming, and much more are just minutes away at Lake Limestone, Fairfield Lake State Park, Richland Chambers Reservoir, and Harriman Park. We also recommend visiting the Buffalo Stampede Celebration, Tri-County Horseshoe Pitching Pit, and the Buffalo City Center during your stay in Buffalo.

Lake Limestone

Lake Limestone offers some of the best fishing of any central Texas lake. Because it is located off the beaten path, anglers will find they have little competition, particularly during the week. Solitude and good fishing for many species combine to make Lake Limestone a winner.

Buffalo Stampede Celebration

Buffalo Stampede Celebration is a celebration of life in Buffalo. Each September we come together as a community to celebrate with a Parade, Arts & Crafts, Live Stage Entertainment, Beauty Pageant, Food Vendors, Car Show, Dog Show, Kids Games, and much more.

Fairfield Lake State Park

At Fairfield Lake State Park there are many activities to enjoy; camping, backpacking, hiking, horseback riding, nature study, bird watching, boating on a 2,400-acre lake, water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, and swimming in a large, buoyed sandy area.

Tri-County Horsehoe Pitching Pit

Tri-County Horseshoe Pitching Pit has 32 lighted concrete pits, 14 RV hookups, big pavilion, and a concession stand. Tri- County Club hosts half dozen tournaments annually, bringing over 600 people to the Buffalo area each year.

Richland Chambers Reservoir

Richland Chambers Reservoir is the 3rd Largest Inland Lake in Texas and an excellent choice for anglers seeking hybrid striped bass, white bass, large-mouth bass, catfish, and crappie. Richland Chambers produces abundant crappie (both black and white) and may be the area’s most consistent fishery for these.

Buffalo City Center – Chamber of Commerce

We hold several events throughout the year, Spring Fest in May and the Buffalo Stampede in September being our major events. Buffalo is also host to The Buffalo Gun Show (2) and several Horseshoe Tournaments per year at one of the best facilities in the state.

Harriman Park

Harriman Park is a naturally beautiful area sited amidst shade trees and a gently rolling hillside. Buffalo’s site for the Annual Buffalo Stampede. A place that is perfect for fun or relaxation. Basketball goals, children’s playground, covered pavilion, park benches, picnic tables, places to roam, softball fields, and a walk bridge.
